Our Senior Projects Consultant, Adam, visited his former Secondary School and Math’s Teacher in September, to assist teaching a Year 9 math’s lesson.
The purpose of the lesson was to provide the students with real life practical examples of how measurement and mathematical calculations are applied to the construction profession. Adam started with some background information on the different roles within construction, from Tradesmen to Project Management, and how each discipline would use math’s in their everyday responsibilities.
He then went on to identify different construction elements within the school structure and quizzed the students on how each component would be measured and priced. He then finished off with some measuring equipment and assisting the students in the measurement of some internal finishes within the classroom and surrounding corridor areas.
Thanks to the Mrs Westlake and the Streetly Academy for the opportunity.
